Subtropical Storm Alberto has moved into the SW Gulf of Mexico today. Outside of Alberto, moderate to fresh winds prevail over the central Caribbean with gentle to moderate winds prevailing over the remainder of the Caribbean as well as the tropical N Atlc forecast zones. Seas are in the 7-9 ft range over the central Caribbean and 3-6 ft over the remainder of the Caribbean. Over the tropical N Atlc forecast zones, seas are in the 5-7 ft range. Now that Alberto has moved into the Gulf of Mexico, winds and seas will decrease over the western Caribbean. Elsewhere, high pressure in the central Atlc will maintain fresh to strong trade winds in the central Caribbean through early next week with strongest winds along the coast of Colombia and in the Gulf of Venezuela. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with surface observations indicate moderate to fresh winds south of 25N and gentle to moderate elsewhere. Outside the Bahamas, seas are in the 4-6 ft S of 25N and 2-4 ft N of 25N. West of the Bahamas, seas are in the 1-3 ft range. The moderate to fresh tradewinds are expected to continue S of 25N through Mon, pulsing to fresh to strong offshore of northern Hispaniola during the afternoon through evening hours each day. SE to S winds will increase to fresh to locally strong W of 77W tonight through Sun night as the pressure gradient tightens between Subtropical Storm Alberto in the Gulf of Mexico and high pressure over the area.
