A broad surface low over the Yucatan peninsula is expected to develop into a a tropical cyclone as it moves slowly northward through Mon. The low may initially resemble a Central American Gyre structure with a large area of cyclonic winds, but lacking a strong inner core characteristic of a tropical cyclone. However, global model guidance remains fairly aggressive in spinning the low up to a tropical cyclone before its center reaches the U.S. Gulf coast in three to four days. Gale conditions and seas around 12 ft are now expected starting Sat in the SE Gulf, spreading northward and reaching the N central Gulf through Mon. Winds and seas will diminish on Tue. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A broad surface low over the Yucatan peninsula will drift northward into the Gulf of Mexico through tonight. Fresh to locally strong SE winds and peak seas near 8 ft are expected the NW Caribbean through Sat as this low potentially develops into a tropical cyclone. High pressure in the central Atlc will maintain fresh to strong trade winds in the central Caribbean through early next week with strongest winds along the coast of Colombia and in the Gulf of Venezuela. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Moderate to fresh tradewinds are expected S of 27N through Mon, pulsing to fresh to strong offshore of northern Hispaniola during the afternoon through evening hours each day.
