A ridge will remain over the northern Gulf Coast through Thu night. A surface trough will drift westward from the Florida Straits to the central Gulf by Tue. A trough will develop by evening each day over the Yucatan Peninsula, then move W over the SW waters and dissipate by mid morning. An area of low pressure forecast to develop over the NW Caribbean Sea and move N within a trough extending N over the eastern Gulf could cause winds and seas to gradually increase over the SE Gulf waters and Straits of Florida late Thu and Fri. The latest forecast grid update leans toward the GFS and away from the ECMWF. The GFS has trended weaker with this system during this time frame and keeps the strongest winds associated with this system to the E of the Gulf over the western Atlantic. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Atlantic Ocean high pressure will maintain fresh to locally strong trades over the central Caribbean through most of the forecast period. Strong winds and seas to 9 ft will affect the NW coast of Colombia. Broad low pressure will develop over the SW Caribbean Mon, then move NW over Nicaragua and Honduras to the Gulf of Honduras by Thu. This could bring increased winds and seas to the western Caribbean by mid week.
