A trough extends southwest from the western Florida Panhandle to the central gulf waters while a weak 1013 mb high pressure is located near 27N92W. Under this weather pattern, mainly light to gentle winds prevail, with the exception of gentle to moderate southerly return flow over the far western Gulf N of 22N. The trough will dissipate today as high pressure builds westward across the Gulf waters. Latest marine guidance suggests that another trough will develop over the eastern Gulf Sat night into Sun. Winds are forecast to increase to 15-20 kt near the northern end of the trough, and over the northeastern Gulf Coast Sun night into Mon. A thermal trough will develop over the evening hours over the Yucatan peninsula before pushing offshore into the SW each night. A surge of mainly fresh winds will be associated with this trough. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Atlantic high pressure will maintain fresh to locally strong trades across the Caribbean generally to the south of 18N and east of 80W through the upcoming weekend, with highest seas of 10 ft forecast off the northwest coast of Colombia. Recent altimeter pass indicates seas to near 8 ft just E of the of the Lesser Antilles. Moderate to fresh trades will build seas to 8 ft E of the Leeward Islands today, and E of the Windward Islands Sat through Mon night. Broad low pressure will develop across the southwest Caribbean early next week and drift northward reaching the Gulf of Honduras during the middle of next week. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A ridge, with axis across the N waters, will dominate the forecast area through early next week supporting fresh to locally strong winds across the tropical waters, including the approaches to the northern Caribbean Passages. The most recent ASCAT pass provides observations of fresh to strong winds across the waters S of 25N between 64W and 70W. An altimeter pass indicates seas to 9 ft just N of Haiti.
