Fresh to near gale-force N to NW winds extend from 94W to a late season cold front along 30N84W to 24N86W to 18N88W. A strong line of thunderstorms is within 120 nm ahead of the front with possible frequent gust to minimal gale force winds. Latest altimeter data show seas of up to 14 ft in the central Gulf to the Yucatan Peninsula. The front will sweep southeast of the Gulf late tonight, thus allowing for the winds and seas to diminish Mon morning as high pressure builds across the basin. Surface ridging will prevail through mid week, then a weaker cold front is forecast to stall over the northern Gulf Thu. Fresh to strong SE winds will develop off the coast of Brownsville, Texas and NE Mexico early on Tue due to an increase in the pressure gradient between the ridge and building low pressure associated with the next front to enter the Gulf on Thu. These winds extending to 94W will continue through Wed morning. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Moderate SE winds are ongoing over the northwest Caribbean ahead of a late season cold front moving across the eastern Gulf of Mexico this afternoon. The front will enter the NW Caribbean late tonight followed by strong northerly winds. The front will then weaken from central Cuba to the western Gulf of Honduras by Tue morning allowing the winds to diminish to moderate. Further weakening will occur as the front stalls thereafter before dissipating on Wed. Strong high pressure in the central Atlc ridging into the northern and eastern Caribbean continue to support fresh to strong E to NE winds along the coast of Colombia and in the Gulf of Venezuela with seas to 9 ft as per latest buoy information.
