A cold front extends from the Florida Big Bend to the north- central Gulf near 28N90W to Tampico, Mexico. High pressure building west of the front supports fresh to strong N to NE winds over the NW Gulf being the strongest winds just N of Tampico to 25N. Seas in this portion of the basin west of the front are in the range of 4 to 6 ft. The front is forecast to stall from Tampa Bay to the SW Gulf near Veracruz, Mexico Sun morning, then weaken from near Sarasota, Florida to Tampico Sun night. A push of cold air along with a developing low along the stationary front will allow its transition to a cold front near SE Louisiana Mon evening. The low is forecast to move NE toward the western Atlantic Ocean on Wed dragging the cold front towards South Florida Wed morning. The front is forecast to dissipate in the Florida Straits Thu. High pres will build in the wake of the front. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... An area of low pressure and associated front over the SW N Atlc waters is allowing for a generally weak pressure gradient across the basin. This is supporting the continuation of light to moderate winds and seas in the range of 2 to 4 ft across most of the basin. Locally fresh trades are in the Gulf of Honduras and along the coast of Colombia. Fresh to strong winds are forecast in the south-central Caribbean near the coast of Colombia, and in the Gulf of Honduras Sun night through Thu. Gentle to moderate trade winds are expected elsewhere through Mon, then becoming moderate to fresh on Tue through Wed night. Otherwise, moderate to fresh winds will affect the tropical Atlantic waters during the forecast period. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Southwesterly fresh to strong winds with seas to 8 ft are in the forecast waters just north of the Bahamas west of 71W along with scattered showers. These winds precede a cold front that will move off the NE Florida coast early this morning and reach from 30N69W to 27N80W in the evening. The western portion of the front is forecast to lift back to the N as a warm front Mon and connect with a developing low pres just off South Carolina. The low will move E-NE Tue morning dragging a cold front forecast to extend from 30N74W to central Florida near 27N80W on Wed morning and from 30N67W to southern Florida Wed evening.
