A progressive jet stream pattern across the southern U.S. during the upcoming week will push a series of fronts into the northern and central Gulf through Tue. The first cold front will move across the NW Gulf on Sat, then become stationary and weaken from near Fort Myers Florida to Veracruz Mexico on Sun. Strong northerly winds are forecast to quickly diminish to fresh winds on Sun over the NW Gulf on Sun. Weak broad low pres may form in the SW gulf late Sat night into Sun ahead of the front, but if it does it is not expected to produce heavy convection. The low should become diffuse late on Sun. A second cold front will reach the northern gulf Mon night, then extend from near Ft Myers FL to the Yucatan Peninsula Tue night. A brief instance of strong NE winds will follow in behind this front over the NW Gulf through Tue, before translating southward to the far western and N-central gulf Tue night into Wed. These winds become moderate to fresh NE to E in direction over the N central and NW portions of the gulf on Wed. Fresh to strong NW to N winds will surge southward along the coast of Mexico Tue through Wed. A thermal trough will develop over the Yucatan Peninsula each afternoon, and move westward across the SW gulf during the overnight hours before dissipating in the late mornings. Fresh to strong SE winds will follow in behind the trough on Mon night then diminish to fresh intensity. On Tue, fresh to strong NE to E winds will precede the trough along and near the northern section of the Yucatan Peninsula. Strong NE winds will develop over the eastern section of the Bay of Campeche late Tue night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Fresh to strong winds are expected to develop in the south-central Caribbean and the Gulf of Honduras on Mon, except winds to near gale force along the coast of Colombia on Mon night. Gentle to moderate trade winds are expected elsewhere through Mon, then becoming moderate to fresh winds Tue through Wed night. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A progressive jet stream pattern present across the southern U.S. this will be favorable for a series of cold fronts to sweep across northern waters through Tue night. Presently, a weakening frontal trough from 31N64W to 27N70W to 24N80W will dissipate early on Sat. A cold front will move off the NE Florida coast on Sat night, reach from near 31N66W to the northern Bahamas Sun night, then stall and weaken along 26N on Mon. This front will be preceded and followed by strong winds, with southerly winds of gale force over the waters just north of the area through Tue. The western portion of the front will lift back to the N as a warm front through early Tue. Another cold front will move over the NW waters Tue and Tue night, and reach from near 31N74W to the NW Bahamas and to S Florida Wed.
