Surface ridging anchored over NW Atlc waters is providing moderate to fresh return flow over the western half of the basin with seas in the 4 to 5 ft range. Latest surface and altimeter data show moderate return flow east of 90W with seas in the range of 3 to 4 ft. The surface ridge will move east ahead of a cold front moving into the northwest gulf waters late tonight. The front will extend from the Florida Big Bend to Tampico, Mexico on Wed evening then stall from central Florida to Veracruz Thu morning while weakening. The front if forecast to gradually dissipate Thu night into Fri. A thermal trough will develop over the Yucatan Peninsula during the afternoons, drift west across the eastern Bay of Campeche during the overnight hours, and dissipate over the southwest gulf waters by late each morning. Otherwise, a new cold front will enter the far northwest waters Sat afternoon and stall east to west across the northern waters early Sun. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Light to moderate trades dominate across the Caribbean waters with seas in the range of 2 to 3 ft, except within 120 nm of the coast of Colombia where winds are fresh and seas up to 5 ft. Strong nocturnal trades will continue to develop along the northwest coast of Colombia through Sat night. A surface trough across the eastern Caribbean will continue to move west and dissipate across the central Caribbean on Wed. Fresh to locally strong easterly trades are forecast across the Gulf of Honduras tonight. Otherwise, gentle to moderate trades are forecast elsewhere through Sat night. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A ridge anchored SW of Bermuda is providing light to moderate southeast to east wind with seas in the range of 2 to 4 ft. The ridge will retract east tonight allowing a cold front to enter the far northwest waters on Wed evening. The front will extend from Bermuda to Cape Canaveral Thu evening, then stall Fri morning north of the Bahamas and gradually dissipate through early Sat. Fresh to strong winds behind the front will affect the NW waters Thu through Friday morning.
