A surface ridge extending from the SW N Atlc across Florida into the eastern Gulf is providing return flow across the basin. A tighter pressure gradient between the ridge and lower pressure building along Mexico is supporting moderate to fresh southeasterly flow west of 90W. Latest surface and altimeter data show seas of 3 to 5 ft in the NW Gulf and 2 to 3 ft elsewhere. The ridge will retract east on Tue ahead of a cold front moving into the northwest gulf waters Tue night. The front is forecast to dissect the gulf waters from the Florida Big Bend to Veracruz Mexico on Wed evening, from central Florida to the central Gulf Thu morning with the western portion of the front stalling along Mexico adjacent waters to Veracruz. The front will gradually dissipate Thu night into Fri. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Light to moderate trades dominate across the Caribbean waters and tropical Atlc with seas in the range of 2 to 4 ft. Strong nocturnal trades will continue along the northwest coast of Colombia through Thu night. A surface trough west of the Lesser Antilles will move west across the east Caribbean through Tue, and dissipate across the central Caribbean Wed. Fresh to locally strong easterly trades are forecast across the Gulf of Honduras on Tue night. Surface ridging extending from a 1021 mb high NE of the area is supporting northeast to east light to moderate winds with seas in the 3 to 5 ft range. The ridge will meander from Bermuda to Port Canaveral Florida through Wed, then retract east allowing a cold front to enter the far northwest waters on Wed evening. The front will extend from Bermuda to the northern Bahamas Thu evening where it will stall before dissipating early on Fri.
