High pressure ridging from the SW N Atlantic into the eastern Gulf will maintain fresh to strong SE return flow through Thu morning when a cold front will enter the NW Gulf. The highest winds and seas will be mainly over the western half of the basin, north of the Yucatan Peninsula, the Yucatan Channel, and the Florida Straits. Moderate to fresh SE to S winds with seas in the 3 to 7 ft range will predominate in the eastern half of the basin. Otherwise, fresh to strong southerly winds will develop within 60 nm east of the front and over Louisiana adjacent waters Thu afternoon continuing through the evening hours. High pressure building in the wake of the front that will extend to southern Mexico will support fresh to near gale force winds in the western Bay of Campeche Thu night to Sat morning.
