A cold front extends from south Florida to the SW Gulf. Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with surface observations indicate strong to near gale force winds over the NE Gulf, and moderate to fresh winds elsewhere. Seas are in the 8 to 10 ft range over the NE Gulf, and 3-5 ft elsewhere. The front will shift SE of the area this morning. High pressure will build in the wake of the front and prevail through Sun. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with surface observations indicate fresh to strong winds over the south central Caribbean, reaching near gale force off the coast of Colombia. Elsewhere, gentle to moderate winds prevail over the NW Caribbean, with moderate to fresh winds prevailing elsewhere across the Caribbean as well as the tropical N Atlc forecast zones. Seas are in the 7-10 ft range over the south central Caribbean, 1-2 ft in the lee of Cuba, and 3-5 ft over the remainder of the Caribbean. Over the tropical N Atlc forecast zones, seas are in the 6-8 ft range. High pressure ridge over the western Atlc will continue to support fresh to locally strong trades across the south central Caribbean the next several days. Winds will reach near gale force along the NW coast of Colombia during the overnight hours. Undersea volcano Kick em Jenny, north of Grenada near 12.18N 61.38W, is in a state of unrest. The government of Grenada advises mariners to observe a 5 km or 3.1 nm exclusion zone around Kick em Jenny. Minimal gale force winds are noted N of 29N within 120 nm east of the front, and within 60 nm west of the front. Elsewhere fresh to near gale winds prevail over the northern waters, with gentle to moderate winds over the southern waters. Seas are in the 10 to 13 ft over the region of gale force winds, 7-10 ft over the NW waters, 3-5 ft elsewhere outside the Bahamas, and 1-2 ft west of the Bahamas. Winds to minimal gale force can be expected north of 29N through tonight as the front moves eastward across the area. Winds will diminish below gale force late Wed night.
