000 AGXX40 KNHC 191834 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 234 PM EDT Mon Mar 19 2018 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas ...GULF OF MEXICO... A ridge over the northern Gulf will shift E as a cold front moves SE from the Texas coast this afternoon. The front will extend from the Florida Big Bend area to Veracruz Mexico early Tue, just as a reinforcing push of cold air moves off the Texas coast. The reinforcing cold air will strengthen the front late Tue as strong winds and building seas develop over the northern Gulf. Strong low pressure to the north of the front will combine with the colder air to produce gale force gusts within 30 nm of the coast from the Mouth of the Suwannee River to Pascagoula Mississippi Tue afternoon through Wed morning. The front will exit SE of the Gulf by early Wed. Winds and seas will diminish across the Gulf Thu and Fri as high pressure follows the front across the northern Gulf. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... High pressure north of the region will support fresh to locally strong trades across the south central Caribbean the next several days, except increasing to near gale force along the northwest coast of Colombia during the overnight hours. A weakening cold front will pass through the Yucatan Basin late Tue night. A tight pressure gradient resulting from surface troughing ahead of the front will generate fresh to strong E to SE winds off the central coast of Honduras through Tue morning. The front will continue weakening as it slowly progresses SE and will dissipate as it reaches from near the Windward Passage to the Gulf of Honduras on Thu. Undersea volcano Kick em Jenny, north of Grenada near 12.18N 61.38W, is in a state of unrest. The government of Grenada advises mariners to observe a 5 km or 3.1 nm exclusion zone around Kick em Jenny. Please see www.nadma.gd for additional information. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front curves WSW from 31N58W to 29N62W to 28N70W. The front is beginning to weaken and is accompanied by fresh winds and seas to 8 ft near 65W. The front will weaken as it moves east across the waters N of 27N and E of 70W through this evening, then dissipate over the waters E of 70W tonight. S to SW flow will increase off NE Florida Mon night and Tue ahead of a stronger cold front moving into the region late Tue. Winds will reach gale force north of 28N Tue night through Wed night as the front moves east. Model guidance suggests a strong mid to upper- level trough will aid in the formation of a line of thunderstorms along the front. The thunderstorms will help generate strong winds in conjunction with the passage of the front. Winds and seas will diminish Thu as the front reaches from Bermuda to the Windward Passage, then continues E and slowly weakens. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
