A cold front is now exiting the southern basin. Latest scatterometer shows peak winds of 30 kt over the SW Gulf around 0400 UTC, as the gale is ending. Fresh to strong northerly winds elsewhere in the wake of the front will diminish from the NW through the early morning. Associated seas of 8 to 10 ft will diminish below 8 ft later this morning. A ridge will build across the region in the wake of the front and will extend from NE Texas to the Straits of Florida on Tue. A high pres center will then shift over the NE Gulf Thu through Fri, and then will slide east of the basin Sat. Aside from occasionally fresh return flow developing over the western gulf Wed and Thu, expect generally benign marine conditions over the offshore waters by this afternoon to last through the remainder of the week. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Fresh to strong easterly tradewinds will continue across the waters S of 15N E of 75W through Thu. A cold front will enter the NW Caribbean tonight, reach from central Cuba to the Gulf of Honduras Tue, where it will stall through Wed morning, then drift SE from E Cuba to offshore of NE Honduras and dissipate Thu. High pres will build SE from the Gulf of Mexico and across the NW Caribbean beginning on Wed night. Near gale force winds will pulse off Colombia at night starting Thu night. NE swell of 8 to 9 ft will continue over the tropical Atlantic waters through mid week, becoming reinforced by a set of NW swell arriving late this week. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front from 31N72W to 24N80W to W Cuba is preceded and followed by near gale to strong gale force winds N of 28N that are expected to persist through this morning. The front will reach from Bermuda to central Cuba this morning, stalling from 25N65W to E Cuba Wed morning. Another cold front will reach E of Florida Wed. The northern portion will move E of 65W Wed night, while the southern portion merges with the stationary front late Wed, with the merged fronts continuing SE through Thu before stalling out once again from 23N65W to Hispaniola Thu night. The front will then dissipate into a trough by the end of the week.
