Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with surface observations indicate fresh to strong winds over the southwest Gulf, and gentle to moderate winds elsewhere. Seas are in the 6-9 ft range over the SW Gulf, and 3-5 ft elsewhere. High pres prevailing over the forecast waters will retreat eastward Sat. This will enable a cold front to move into the northern waters late Sat night. This front will shift rapidly across the forecast waters, then southeast of the area by Mon night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with surface observations indicate fresh to strong winds over the central Caribbean, except off the coast of Colombia where winds are near gale force. Light to gentle winds prevail over the western Caribbean, while moderate to fresh winds prevail over the eastern Caribbean as well as the tropical N Atlc forecast zones. Seas are in the 8-11 ft range over the south central Caribbean, 5-7 ft over the north central Caribbean, 1-3 ft over the western Caribbean, and 6-8 ft over the eastern Caribbean except reaching near 11 ft over the Atlantic passages to the Caribbean. Over the tropical N Atlc forecast zones, seas are in the 9-11 ft range. Large northerly swell propagating through the northeastern Caribbean passages, and through the tropical waters east of the Lesser Antilles, will gradually subside through the remainder of this week. Fresh to strong trades will prevail across the south- central Caribbean through the upcoming weekend. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front extends from near Bermuda to western Cuba. Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with surface observations indicate fresh to strong winds N of 27N and east of the cold front, moderate to fresh winds west of the front, and light to gentle winds elsewhere. Seas are in the 8-13 ft range over the open Atlantic waters outside the Bahamas, and 1-3 ft west of the Bahamas. Large northerly swell will slowly subside across the open waters through the end of the week. The cold front will reach from 31N65W to central Cuba tonight, then from 25N65W to the Windward Passage Fri night, where it will stall and weaken. Another cold front will move into the NW waters late this weekend.
