A ridge extending west along 26N continues to retract east just ahead of a cold front currently across the northwest waters that will reach a position from the Florida Panhandle to northeast Mexico this evening, reach from Central Florida to the Bay of Campeche at sunrise on Wed, and move south of the area on Wed night leaving a northwest to southeast orientated trough to meander across the far southwest waters. Strengthening high pressure in the wake of the front will support strong northerly winds across the northwest gulf waters tonight, increasing to near gale force along the Mexican coast on Wed, then diminishing to 20 kt or less on Thu. Southerly return flow will set up across the northwest gulf on Thu night and spread east across the entire gulf by late Fri night ahead of the next cold front moving into the northern waters late Sat night and reaching the far southeast waters late Sun night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Large northerly swell propagating south through the northeastern Caribbean passages, and through the tropical waters east of the Lesser Antilles, will gradually subside through the remainder of this week. Fresh trades are observed across the eastern Caribbean with fresh to locally strong trades across the south- central Caribbean waters. The pressure gradient will tighten over the next few days with strong trades forecast across the south-central Caribbean through the upcoming weekend. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Strong northwest winds N of 25N between 65W and 68W will diminish by this evening, but large northerly swell will continue across the entire open waters through mid-week. Strong southerly winds will develop north of the Bahamas this evening ahead of a cold front moving off Northeast Florida late tonight, with near gale force to minimal gale conditions developing north of 28N east of the front on Wed. The front will reach from Bermuda to the Central Cuba on Thu morning, and reach from 27N65W to Hispaniola on Fri morning. A second cold front will move east across the waters north of the Bahamas on Thu, and merge with the first cold front across the tropical waters north of Puerto Rico late Fri.
