Moderate to fresh southerly flow related to weak ridging across the Gulf will diminish tonight ahead of a cold front moving into the northern Gulf early Thu. Strong northerly winds will follow the front over mainly the western Gulf into Fri. Model guidance has been trending downward during the past few days with respect to the strength of this front. The front will stall from the Straits of Florida to near Veracruz Mexico by late Fri before dissipating Sat. A ridge will build across the Gulf through Sun. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A relatively light wind regime will prevail over the basin during the next several days as low pressure systems moving into the western Atlantic continue to weaken the subtropical ridge to the north of the Caribbean. High pressure north of the area will support moderate to fresh trade winds across the basin, with strong winds pulsing at night off Colombia through late week. Large NE swell will impact the tropical Atlantic waters through Sat, with a large and more significant N swell event penetrating the NE Caribbean Sun morning. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A weakening stationary front meanders from E to W from along 25N65W to 26N73W to Eleuthera Island in the Bahamas near 25N76W. Fresh S to SW flow will increase late Thu off NE Florida ahead of another cold front moving off the coast Thu night. The front will reach from Bermuda to the Straits of Florida by late Fri, just ahead of a reinforcing front. Strong to gale force winds will affect the waters north of 24N as deep low pressure moves eastward from the Virginia coast. The fronts will merge Sat and reach from 22N65W to the Windward Passage by Sun.
