A cold front extends from SW Florida to 25N87W then continues as a stationary front 24N94W to near Tuxpan, Mexico. Fresh to strong easterly winds are noted N of the front, mainly E of 94W, based on surface data, with seas to 9 ft. These winds are forecast to diminish to 20 kt or less late today. The front is forecast to lift northward over the western Gulf through this evening. A weak low pressure forming along the front over the NW Gulf will move towards the Carolinas, with a weakening cold front trailing over the northern Gulf. A reinforcing cold front will move into the Gulf late Sun, merge with the dying front then stall along 24N through late Mon. The front will lift N through Tue ahead of a stronger cold front expected to move into the NW Gulf Wed. Fresh to strong northerly winds and building seas are expected in the wake of this front. The GFS model suggests winds near gale force near Tampico, Mexico by Wed night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Winds will continue to pulse to minimal gale force within about 90 nm of the coast of Colombia each night through Wed night. Fresh to strong NE winds are expected through tonight in the in the lee of Cuba, through the Windward Passage and in the lee of the Dominican Republic...including the Mona Passage. A recent scatterometer passes indicate the presence of these winds across the Mona Passage and in the lee of Dominican Republic, as well as in the lee of Cuba. Otherwise, mainly moderate to locally fresh trades will prevail across the basin. The aerial extent and the strength of the trades are forecast to increase across the Tropical N Atlantic waters on Mon, and over most of the east and central Caribbean on Tue as high pressure builds N of the area. By Wed, seas will build to 14 or 15 ft near the coast of Colombia. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front extends from 30N65W to south Florida. Fresh to strong northerly winds are noted in the wake of the front per scatterometer data. Seas are in the 8-11 ft range E of 77W according to an altimeter pass and buoy observations. The front will stall along 26N/27N tonight, then lift N of the area late Sun ahead of another cold front moving off the NE Florida coast Sun night. The second cold front will reach from Bermuda to South Florida by early Tue before stalling then lifting N through mid week. Fresh to strong southerly winds are expected ahead of the second cold front across the NW waters with seas of 7-8 ft.
