Buoy observations and a recent scatterometer satellite pass indicated fresh to strong east winds north of a cold front extending from near Tampa Bay Florida to Tampico Mexico. The buoy data and concurrent altimeter satellite data indicated seas 8 to 10 ft over much of the north central and northwest Gulf as well. Winds and seas will diminish through today as the front stalls over the eastern Gulf, then lifts northward over the western Gulf through late today. Weak low pres along the front over the NW Gulf will move through the Carolinas, with a dissipating cold front trailing over the northern Gulf. A reinforcing cold front will move into the Gulf late Sun, merge with the dying front then stall along 24N through late Mon. The front will lift N through Tue ahead of a stronger cold front expected to move into the NW Gulf Wed. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Fresh to near gale force winds NW of the coast of Colombia will increase to minimal gale force this evening through early Sun as high pressure builds north of the region. This pattern will repeat due to local drainage effects, with winds pulsing to minimal gale force on subsequent nights through early next week. Otherwise, mainly moderate to locally fresh trades will prevail across the basin, occasionally increasing to fresh to strong across the approach to the Windward Passage and in the lee of the Dominican Republic. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Fresh northerly winds follow a cold front extending from 31N75W to Cape Canaveral Florida currently. Seas have subsided over open waters east of the Bahamas to 4 to 6 ft, except for south of 22N where an earlier altimeter satellite pass and a ship observation showed seas 9 to 10 ft. The front will reach from Bermuda to South Florida later this morning, then stall and weaken along 25N tonight. The front will lift north of the area late Sun ahead of another cold front moving off the northeast Florida coast Sun night. The second cold front will reach from Bermuda to South Florida by early Tue before stalling then lifting north through mid week. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
