A cold front extending from near Tampa Florida to the southern Bay of Campeche will reach the Yucatan Channel this afternoon, then move SE of the area this evening. Minimal gale force winds are still expected behind the front near Veracruz, Mexico this afternoon and tonight. Winds and seas are forecast to diminish from W to E across the Gulf waters on Tue. Then, a ridge will dominate the region through Thu. The next cold front is forecast to enter the northern Gulf waters on Fri. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Strong to minimal gale force winds will pulse each night near the coast of Colombia primarily late at night and into the early morning hours through the forecast period. Winds will barely reach the gale threshold on Tue morning as a cold front entering the NW Caribbean weakens the ridge N of Colombia. The same cold front will reach the NW Caribbean this evening, then from eastern Cuba to the Gulf of Honduras by Tue evening, where it will remain nearly stationary and begin to dissipate on Wed. Fresh to strong N-NE winds and building seas are expected NW of the front on Tue and Wed. Winds and seas will subside Wed night and Thu as the front dissipates. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Strong high pres ridging SW from the mid Atlc continues to dominate the forecast region. A deepening surface low passing near Cape Hatteras will drag a cold front across the NW waters today. Latest forecast issuance required an update to add minimal gales N of 29.5N and E of the front to 75W as satellite-derived winds from 1530Z indicated the presence of these winds along the front as it emerged from the Florida coast. Expect the area of gale-force winds to lift N of 31N by 00Z as the front sweeps E. The front will reach from near 31N73W SW across the NW Bahamas to the Straits of Florida tonight, from 31N64W to eastern Cuba by Tue night, and from 23N55W to the entrance of the Windward Passage by Wed night while gradually weakening.
