As of 1800 UTC, a cold front extends from northern Florida near 29N83W to 22N90W where it becomes stationary, then continues to 21N96W to 18N95W. An area of showers and tstms is ahead of the front affecting the SE Gulf waters. Winds and seas could be higher near tstms. The front will reach from SW Florida to the Bay of Campeche tonight, then move slowly across the SE Gulf on Wed, exiting the area by late Wed. Minimal gale conditions are forecast over the SW Gulf waters near Veracruz, Mexico late this afternoon through Thu, with building seas of 11 or 12 ft. Strengthening high pressure in the wake of the front will bring an increase in winds and seas across much of the Gulf region Wed evening into Thu, with these conditions shifting across the E Gulf on Fri and Sat as the high pressure also shifts eastward towards the Carolinas early on Fri. Looking ahead, a low pressure system is forecast to develop over the north-central or NE Gulf during the upcoming weekend, then move NE across northern Florida into the Atlantic Ocean late on Sun.
