A cold front moving across the NW Gulf early this afternoon will reach from the Florida Big Bend to the central Bay of Campeche by early Tue morning, from south Florida across the Yucatan Channel into the Yucatan Peninsula by early Wed morning, and move SE of the area later on Wed. Fresh to strong northerly winds and building seas to 8-9 ft will follow the front, reaching minimal gale force over the SW Gulf on Tue afternoon into Tue night. Strong high pressure building in behind the front will maintain fresh to strong N-NE across much of the Gulf on Wed, with minimal gale conditions near Veracruz, Mexico on Wed night. At that time, seas are forecast to build to 10-11 ft within the area of 30-35 kt winds. Fresh to strong NE-E winds will persist across the eastern half of the Gulf, including the Straits of Florida, Thu through Fri night as high pressure moves eastward across the northern Gulf states. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Strong to minimal gale force trade winds are forecast along the NW coast of Colombia during the overnight and early morning hours through Fri night with building seas of 12-13 ft. Fresh to strong easterly trades are expected elsewhere across the Central waters. The cold front currently moving across the Gulf of Mexico will reach the NW Caribbean by late Wed, and gradually dissipate on Thu. Expect fresh to strong N-NE winds behind the front and seas of 8-9 ft mainly across the Yucatan Channel. Strengthening high pressure N of the area will produce fresh to strong NE winds across the Caribbean W of 70W, including the Windward Passage Thu night into Fri. Moderate to fresh trades will continue across the tropical Atlc waters E of the Windwards through Fri night, with seas to 8 ft today. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... High pressure currently near 31N60W extends a ridge across the forecast waters. This system will shift eastward allowing a cold front to enter the NW waters on Tue afternoon. The front will reach from near 31N73W to the Straits of Florida on early Wed morning, from near Bermuda to central Cuba on early Thu morning, and from 25N65W to the N coast of central Cuba on early Fri, then stall E to W along 22N on Fri night. Strengthening high pressure in the wake of the front will produce strong NE winds west of the front Thu evening into Fri, with strong to near gale force NE to E winds expected across the entire forecast waters S of 29N on Fri night.
