An inverted NW to SE orientated trough currently across the SW Gulf waters will shift NW and become orientated N to S between 95W and 96W by this evening, then continue slowly W-NW to inland SE Texas and NE Mexico late Sat. The trough is accompanied 20- 25 kt winds which will diminish to 20 kt or less tonight, and to around 15 kt by late Sat. The pressure gradient will then tighten with fresh SE return flow setting up across the western Gulf on Sat night ahead of a cold front moving SE off the Texas coast late Sun night. The cold front will reach from the Mississippi Delta to the Bay of Campeche on Mon, then stall from SW Florida to near Veracruz Mexico on Tue night as the southern portion of the front lifts NW. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A stationary front extending SW from the Windward Passage to NE Costa Rica will gradually dissipate through Sat night. Strong northerly winds currently across the NW Caribbean will diminish today, except continue across the Windward Passage and to lee of Cuba through Sat morning. Strong to near gale force NE-E trades will pulse along the NW coast of Colombia through Tue night, except increasing to minimal gale conditions on Sat night. The pressure gradient will strengthen tonight resulting in strong NE to E winds developing elsewhere across the Central Caribbean waters during the weekend, diminishing somewhat early next week. Fresh trades will also develop across the tropical Atlc waters E of the Windwards tonight with seas building to 8 ft on Sun and continuing through Tue. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front extends SW from 31N62W to the Windward Passage. A strong to near gale force SW-W-NW wind shift is currently observed N of 28N within about 180 nm E, and within 420 nm W of the front, while locally strong northerly winds are noted across the Atlc approach to the Windward Passage. The northern segment of the front will continue E reaching a position from 28N55W to 23N65W where it will become stationary to E Cuba this evening, with associated winds diminished to 20 kt or less. Remnants of the front will meander along 23N, and gradually dissipate through Tue with the associated N swell subsiding to less than 8 ft across the waters E of the Bahamas by Sun evening. A post- frontal surface high will shift E along 30N through Mon, then weaken allowing a cold front to move off the NE Florida coast on Mon night.
