Low pressure centered near 28N87W extends a cold front SE to near the Bay of Campeche. Latest surface observations indicate gentle to moderate winds over the NE Gulf, while light to gentle winds prevail elsewhere. Seas are in the 1-3 ft range over the SE Gulf and 3-5 ft elsewhere. The low will drift southeastward dissipating to a remnant trough Wednesday. A progressive weather pattern follows as high pressure builds across the area Wednesday, and retreats eastward Thursday enabling another cold front to move into the NW Gulf by Thursday night. The front will rapidly shift across the forecast waters Friday, with fresh to strong NW-N winds behind the front, and minimal gale force possible over the western Gulf Thursday night through Friday morning. A reinforcing front will move through the eastern Gulf late Friday night into early Saturday, with high pressure building in its wake, with more tranquil marine conditions. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A surface trough extends from the Windward Passage to the SW Caribbean. Latest surface observations indicate light to gentle winds over the NW Caribbean, with moderate to fresh winds over the remainder of the Caribbean as well as the Tropical N Atlc forecast zones. Seas are in the 8-9 ft range over the south central Caribbean, 5-7 ft over the north central Caribbean, 4-6 ft over the eastern Caribbean, 2-4 ft over the western Caribbean, and 8-10 ft over the tropical N Atlc forecast zones. Winds will briefly diminish mid-week as the pres gradient loosens, before once again increasing by the end of the week. A cold will move into the NW Caribbean Friday night, reaching from eastern Cuba to southern Costa Rica by early Saturday. Fresh to near gale force northerly flow will follow behind the front, building seas to 6-10 ft. In the tropical N Atlantic, moderate to fresh trades will prevail the next several days. Northerly swells of 7-10 ft will prevail today, subsiding to 6-9 ft thereafter. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A surface trough extends from 26N69W to E Cuba. Latest surface observations moderate to fresh winds prevail over the waters N of 29N, with gentle to moderate winds prevailing elsewhere. Seas are in the 5-6 ft range over the NE waters, with seas in the 6-8 ft range prevailing elsewhere outside the Bahamas, and 1-3 ft W of the Bahamas. The surface trough will shift NW over the next couple of days before moving west of the area Thu. High pressure will build in the wake of the trough. The next cold front will move into the NW waters Friday night into Saturday.
