A cold front has moved into the NW waters. A NW-SE oriented surface trough extends from the NW Gulf to the Yucatan peninsula. Latest surface observations indicate light to gentle winds over the western Gulf and gentle to moderate winds over the eastern Gulf. Seas are in the 3-5 ft range over the eastern Gulf and 2-3 ft over the western Gulf. The cold front will merge with the trough tonight through Friday night, and will become stationary from near the western Florida Panhandle to Tampico, Mexico on Friday. High pressure will then build across the area this weekend into early next week. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A broad trough prevails over the western Caribbean. Latest surface observations indicate fresh to strong winds over the south central Caribbean and gentle to moderate elsewhere across the Caribbean as well as the tropical N Atlantic forecast zones. Seas are in the 7-9 ft range in the south central Caribbean, 3-5 ft elsewhere over the Caribbean, and 5-6 ft over the tropical N Atlantic forecast zones. The trough will linger over the western waters though the weekend into early next week. The area of fresh to strong winds will continue today before diminishing Friday. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A surface trough prevails over the eastern waters. Latest surface observations indicate fresh to strong winds N of 25N and light to gentle winds south of 25N. Outside the Bahamas, seas are in the 5-8 ft range N of 25N, 4-5 ft S of 25N, and 1-3 ft W of the Bahamas.
