A NW-SE oriented surface trough extends from the NW Gulf to the Yucatan channel. Latest surface observations indicate moderate to fresh winds over the eastern Gulf with gentle to moderate winds over the western Gulf. Seas are in the 3-5 ft range over the eastern Gulf and 2-4 ft over the western Gulf. A weak cold front will move into the NW Gulf Thu and merge with the trough by Friday. The front will stall from near the Florida panhandle to Tampico, Mexico Fri into Sat. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A broad trough prevails over the western Caribbean. Latest surface observations indicate fresh to strong winds over the south central Caribbean, with moderate to fresh winds prevailing elsewhere across the Caribbean waters as well as the tropical N Atlantic forecast zones. Seas are in the 8-10 ft range over the south central Caribbean, 5-7 ft over the north central Caribbean, and 3-5 ft elsewhere across the Caribbean. Seas of 5-7 ft prevail over the tropical N Atlantic forecast zones. The surface trough will linger over the western Caribbean the next several days.
