Surface high pressure ridges across the region from northern Florida to central Mexico. The ridge will retreat eastward today as a cold front move into the NW waters tonight. The front will extend from Pensacola Florida to Brownsville Texas early Sunday, from Ft Myers Florida to Veracruz Mexico early Monday, then push south of the Gulf and weaken through early Tuesday. Fresh to strong N to NE winds will prevail north and west of the front Sunday with seas building to 8-10 ft. Brief gales are possible south of 25N west of 95W along the Mexican coastal waters Sun and Sun night. Marine conditions will improve significantly Mon and Tue as the front progresses east-southeastward. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Broad troughing prevails in the central Caribbean along 73W. Surface observations and scatterometer data indicate gentle NE winds prevail W of the trough, while gentle ESE winds are noted E of the trough axis. Seas are 3-4 ft over the entire Caribbean, and 4-5 ft in tropical N Atlc waters. Expect for the trough to remain nearly stationary in the central Caribbean for a couple more days, then weaken and eventually dissipate Mon and Tue. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A weakening cold front extends from north of the area near 31N66W to 27N70W. An active surface trough with multiple weak vortices embedded along the trough axis extends from a 1007 mb low near 26N57W to 22N65W to Hispaniola near 18N72W. Scatterometer data shows moderate to fresh N to NE winds north of the trough axis, and light to gentle southerly winds to the south. Seas are 5-7 ft NW of the trough, and 4-5 ft SE of the trough outside the Bahamas. The trough will linger over southeast waters this weekend, then weaken Monday. A cold front will move into the NW waters Sun afternoon, then reach from 31N72W to south Florida early Mon, and from 31N60W through the central Bahamas to western Cuba early Tue.
