Surface high pressure covers the northern waters. Latest surface observations indicate that gentle to moderate winds prevail over the forecast waters, with seas in the 2-4 ft range. The area of high pressure will retreat eastward by Saturday. This will enable a cold front to move into the NW waters Sat night. The front will extend from near Sarasota to the SW corner of Gulf Sun evening. Fresh to strong N to NE winds will prevail behind the front, which will build seas to 8-10 ft. Brief gales are possible along the Mexican coastal waters on Sun. These conditions will diminish within the next 12 hours as the front progresses. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Broad troughing prevails in the central Caribbean along 73W. The latest surface observations indicate gentle to moderate winds prevail west of the trough, while light to gentle winds are noted east of the trough. Seas are 3-5 ft over the Caribbean, and 5-6 ft over the tropical N Atlc waters. Expect for the trough to drift E into the central Caribbean early this weekend, where it will stall and weaken through Sun. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front extends north of the area over the western Atlantic. A surface trough extends across in the adjacent waters of the southern Bahamas. Latest surface observations indicate moderate to fresh winds prevail near the trough, while gentle to moderate winds are noted elsewhere. Seas are in the 5-7 ft range over the northern waters, 4-6 ft over the southern waters outside the Bahamas, and 2-3 ft west of the Bahamas. The surface trough will linger over the southeast waters the next few days, and will weaken this weekend as high pressure builds across the forecast waters. The high pressure will retreat eastward Sunday enabling a cold front to move into the NW waters.
