High pressure prevails over the northern waters. Latest surface observations indicate gentle to moderate winds prevail over the forecast waters. Seas are in the 2-4 ft range. The area of high pressure will retreat eastward by Saturday. This will enable a cold front to move into the NW waters Sat night. The front will extend from near Sarasota to the W Bay of Campeche Sun evening. Fresh to strong N to NE winds will prevail behind the front, which will build seas to 8-10 ft. Brief gales are possible along the Mexican coastal waters Sun. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Broad troughing prevails over the W half of the Caribbean. Latest surface observations indicate gentle to moderate winds prevail over the Caribbean waters, with gentle winds prevailing over the tropical N Atlc waters. Seas are in the 5-7 ft range off the coast of Colombia, 3-5 ft elsewhere over the Caribbean, and 5-6 ft over the tropical N Atlc waters. The trough will drift E into the central Caribbean Fri and Sat, where it will stall and weaken through Sun. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A dissipating cold front extends across the NW waters extends. A surface trough extends across the southeast waters. Latest surface observations indicate moderate to fresh winds prevail west of the front, with gentle to moderate winds elsewhere. Seas are in the 5-7 ft range over the northern waters, 4-6 ft over the southern waters outside the Bahamas, and 1-3 ft west of the Bahamas. The surface trough will linger over the southeast waters the next few days, and will weaken this weekend as high pressure builds across the forecast waters.
