A cold front extends from the NE Gulf, into the N central Gulf, into the SW corner of the area. The latest surface observations show fresh N to NE winds to the north and west of the front. The front will reach from Tampa Florida to 24N96W to 20N96W, about 60 nm to the south of Veracruz Mexico by late tonight. Pulses of strong winds are expected between the front, and along the coast of Mexico, through late Fri. The front will stall and weaken across the southern Gulf Fri and Sat. Strong high pressure north of the area will freshen easterly winds in the eastern Gulf this weekend. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A surface trough extends from a 1007 mb low pressure center that is near 14N77W, northward, between Jamaica and Haiti, into the Windward Passage. Widely scattered moderate to isolated strong rainshowers are within 360 nm SW semicircle of the 1007 mb low pressure center. Scattered to numerous strong rainshowers are within 210 nm to 420 nm NE quadrant of the 1007 mb low pressure center. Winds and seas will increase in the NW Caribbean, especially the near the Yucatan Channel Fri night and Sat, as winds surge across west-central Cuba. A broad area of low pressure will develop slowly in the SW Caribbean through Sat, then dissipate by Sunday morning. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front is pushing off the northern coast of Florida east of Jacksonville. A surface trough is along 28N64W 25N66W 22N67W. Widely scattered moderate to isolated strong rainshowers are from 20N to 24N between 63W and 75W. Surface observations and ASCAT data show light to gentle winds in the northern waters, and moderate to fresh trade winds in the southern waters. The cold front will stall from Bermuda to the Straits of Florida by late Fri.
