A cold front across the northern and NW Gulf extends from the Florida panhandle near Panama City to 27N95W to the Mexico coast near Tampico. Latest surface observations depict fresh N to NE winds north and west of the front. The front will reach from Tampa Florida to 25N96W to Veracruz Mexico by late tonight. Pulses of strong winds are expected between the front and the coast of Mexico through late Fri. The front will stall and weaken across the southern Gulf Fri and Sat. Strong high pressure north of the area will freshen easterly winds in the eastern Gulf this weekend. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A surface trough extends from low pressure in northern Colombia near 10N75W along 75W to the Mona Passage. Scattered moderate to strong convection is east of the trough axis between 65W and 73W. Winds and seas will increase in the NW Caribbean, especially the near the Yucatan Channel Fri night and Sat as winds surge across west-central Cuba. Elsewhere, a broad area of low pressure will slowly develop over the SW Caribbean through Sat, then dissipate by Sunday morning. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front is pushing off the northern coast of Florida east of Jacksonville. A surface trough extends NE of Hispaniola from 20N68W to 27N63W. Surface observations and ASCAT data show light to gentle winds over northern waters and moderate to fresh trade winds in southern waters.
