High pressure is centered over the northern Gulf. Latest surface observations depict light to gentle winds prevail, except over the far western Gulf where gentle to moderate winds are noted. Seas are in the 1-2 ft range over the eastern Gulf, and 2-3 ft over the western Gulf. The area of high pressure will dissipate Wednesday enabling a cold front to move into the NW Gulf Wednesday night. The front will reach from near Tampa, Florida to 25N96W to Veracruz Mexico by late Thu. Pulses of strong winds will occur between the front and the coast of Mexico through late Fri. The front will stall and weaken across the southern Gulf late in the week. Elsewhere, A trough will develop late each day over the Yucatan Peninsula and drift westward into the SW Gulf each night where it will dissipate each morning. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Latest surface observations indicate gentle to moderate winds across the Caribbean and tropical north Atlantic waters. Seas are in the 3-5 ft range over the central Caribbean, 3-4 ft over the eastern Caribbean, 2-3 ft over the western Caribbean, and 4-5 ft over the tropical north Atlantic waters. A surface ridge north of the area will retreat eastward by the end of the week as a cold front moves into the western Atlantic. This will loosen the pressure gradient over the waters east of 75W, and help to diminish winds. Winds and seas will increase over the NW Caribbean, especially the near the Yucatan Channel, Fri night as winds surge across western and central Cuba. Elsewhere, broad low pressure will slowly develop over the SW Caribbean through the week. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A surface trough extends from eastern Cuba to the central Bahamas, while high pressure prevails over the northern waters. Latest surface observations indicate light to gentle winds over the northern waters with moderate to fresh winds over the southern waters. The surface trough will gradually dissipate through Wednesday. The area of high pressure will retreat eastward by the end of the week. This will enable a cold front to move into the northwest waters late Thu. The front will stall from Bermuda to the Straits of Florida by late Fri. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
