High pressure prevails over the northern Gulf waters. Latest observations indicate light to gentle winds prevail over much of the Gulf waters, except for gentle to moderate winds prevailing over the southeast Gulf. Seas are in the 1-2 ft range in the northeast Gulf, 3-4 ft over the southeast Gulf, and 2-3 ft elsewhere. A thermal trough will develop over the Yucatan each day. The trough will shift westward into the SW Gulf each night, where it will dissipate each morning. Looking ahead, a cold front is will move off the coast of Texas by mid week, followed by strong northerly winds and building seas over the NW Gulf through Wed night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A surface trough is moving though the western Caribbean. Latest surface observations indicate light to gentle winds prevail over much of the forecast waters, except for gentle to moderate winds over the northwest Caribbean where the gradient is tighter between the trough and high pressure over the northern Gulf of Mexico. Seas are in the 4-5 ft range over the northwest Caribbean, 2-3 ft over the remainder of the Caribbean, and 3-4 ft over the Tropical N Atlc waters. Winds and seas will diminish over the northwest Caribbean through late Sun as the Caribbean trough drifts W. High pressure building into the western Atlantic in the wake of the trough N of the area will allow trades to increase slightly from the tropical N Atlantic into the central Caribbean through early next week. Fresh NE to E winds will prevail in most areas by mid week as the ridge builds N of the region. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A surface trough alone 75W/76W is moving through the central and northern Bahamas. Latest surface observations indicate gentle to moderate winds between the trough and NE Florida. Light to gentle winds prevail elsewhere. Seas are in the 4-5 ft range outside the Bahamas, and 1-2 ft west of the Bahamas. The trough will linger in the area through early next week. High pressure will build from the central Atlantic into the western Atlantic in the wake of the trough Sun through early next week. This will support moderate trade winds S of 22N and overnight pulses of fresh trades off the N coast of Hispaniola with seas to 6 ft at times.
