A cold front passes through the SW Florida coast near 25N81W to the NE corner of the Yucatan Peninsula, into the northern half of Guatemala. Strong winds are to the west of 89W, with reinforcing cold air seeping into the region. The reinforcement will maintain strong winds and seas to 10 ft mainly in the western Gulf today. The winds and seas diminish by Thursday just after midnight, as the front slips to the south of the area and high pressure builds in the northern Gulf. Fresh return flow will begin in the NW Gulf by late Thursday/early Friday, ahead of another front moving into the NW Gulf Friday after sunset. The front will reach from the Florida Panhandle to the far SW Gulf by midday Sat, with winds funneling along the coast of Mexico, possibly reaching gale force and seas building 10 to 13 ft. The front will pass SE of the region Sun after sunset, interacting with a low pressure area moving ahead of the front from the NW Caribbean across western and central Cuba. The winds and seas will diminsh gradually across the Gulf through late Sun as high pressure builds into the region. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Broad low pressure is becoming a little better organized in the along the coast of Nicaragua near 13N83W. The low pressure is expected to evolve gradually as it moves into the NW Caribbean through Sat. It will move more NE through western and central Cuba, ahead of a cold front that will be moving across the Gulf of Mexico. The front will dig through the Yucatan Channel and into the NW Gulf late Sat and Sun in the wake of the low pressure, followed by strong northerly winds and seas to 8 ft, mainly near the Yucatan Channel. Moderate trades will persist elsewhere. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front is moving off the coast of NE Florida, currently passing through 31N77W to West Palm Beach. The front will pass through 31N75W to Andros Island in the Bahamas to NW Cuba late Wednesday, from 31N68W to eastern Cuba late Thursday, before stalling and weakening from 31N62W to central Cuba through Fri and Sat. Fresh to strong NW winds behind the front will diminish on Thursday, leaving a fairly weak pressure pattern along with gentle breezes through the remainder of the week.
