A stationary front is located from Louisiana to near Tampico, Mexico. It will remain in about the same location before dissipating by Fri morning. Expect fresh to strong winds and building seas west of the front across the west-central and SW Gulf through Thu afternoon. Seas should briefly reach 8 to 9 ft along the Mexican coast where the winds are strongest. A broad surface trough north of Dominican Republic currently will reach the eastern Gulf of Mexico on Friday and continue westward through Sunday. While this should be accompanied by an increase in showers and thunderstorms, no significant winds or seas are expected. Elsewhere winds and seas should remain tranquil throughout the next several days. A new cold front should reach the northwestern Gulf Monday morning winds strong to near-gale winds along the westernmost Gulf. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A weak tropical wave currently across the central Caribbean will move across the western Caribbean by Friday accompanied by scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. Some enhancement of the trades to fresh or strong breeze conditions with seas to 8 ft is expected north of Colombia from Friday through Sunday. Another tropical wave currently near 44W will reach the forecast waters along 55W by Friday night. While winds should remain 20 kt or less and seas less than 8 ft with the passage of the wave, the system should enhance shower and thunderstorm activity as it progresses westward. Elsewhere winds and seas will remain relatively tranquil throughout the period. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A broad surface trough N of the Dominican Republic will move W across the forecast waters through Fri. E to NE winds up to 25 kt are occurring east of the Bahamas and NDBC buoy 41047 has been observing seas of 9 to 11 ft today. This trough along with strong high pressure to the N will enhance the winds and seas E of the Bahamas through Thu afternoon and between the W Bahamas and Florida on Fri. Expect scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms with possible gusty winds and building seas with this trough.
