A recent scatterometer pass indicated 15 to 20 kt winds over the north central Gulf off the western Florida Panhandle, but otherwise a weak ridge from the Florida Big Bend area to South Texas is supporting generally a light to moderate anticyclonic wind flow. Seas are 4 to 6 ft over the northern Gulf in decaying southerly swell, and 2 to 4 ft elsewhere. No significant convection is noted. Little change is expected into Tue. A weak cold front will move off the Texas coast late Tue, and drift into the northern Gulf before stalling by mid week. Fresh to strong northerly flow will funnel along the coast of Mexico to Veracruz through Thu. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A sharp upper trough reaches from the central Atlc to the Windward Passage to the southwest Caribbean. This is supporting a few showers and thunderstorms across the north central and northeast Caribbean currently. Deep layer trough is developing east of the Bahamas will keep the pressure gradient fairly weak over the next few days, supporting light to gentle breezes over the central and eastern Caribbean through mid week. Ridging over the Gulf of Mexico will support moderate to occasionally fresh east to southeast winds over the western Caribbean, primarily in the Gulf of Honduras during overnight hours. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A recent scatterometer along with buoy observations indicate moderate to fresh easterly winds over much of the area east of the Bahamas, between high pressure north of the region and broad troughing forming north of Hispaniola.
