A thermal trough will develop each evening over the NW Yucatan Peninsula, move W-NW across the SW Gulf during the overnight hours and dissipate over the SW Gulf waters by late each morning. Expect the trough to be accompanied by a moderate to locally fresh NE-E-SE wind shift and brief seas to 4 ft through early Tue. Expect a tighter pressure gradient on Tue evening with a fresh to locally strong wind shift along the trough axis. Weak high pressure will continue to support light to locally moderate anticyclonic flow, and 1 to 3 ft seas, through Tue. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Fresh southerly winds currently across the Mona Passage will diminish to a light S breeze by this evening. Moderate N winds, and seas to about 8 ft, currently across the Atlc approach to the Windward Passage will become a light SW breeze with 3 to 5 ft this evening. Elsewhere E of 70W, moderate to locally fresh E- SE winds expected through Mon. To the W of 70W expect the light N to NE winds to gradually become E to SE through Sat, then begin to increase on Sun. Strong nocturnal trades will resume along the NW coast of Venezuela and along the far NE coast of Colombia on Mon and Tue evening, as well as across the Gulf of Honduras. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Hurricane Maria will continue NW today and gradually turn to the N-NW this weekend, with a later turn to the N around the W periphery of the subtropical ridge, and E of an approaching short wave trough. This track keeps the center of Maria E of the Central Bahamas and Northern Bahamas, with the forecast track also well W of Bermuda. However, mixed swell will result in 8 ft or greater seas W of 62W, including the Bahama Passages, through early Mon with seas then quickly subsiding from the S.
