Tropical Depression Harvey is inland over Louisiana. A recent scatterometer pass is still showing fresh to strong winds across the north-central Gulf associated with the circulation of Harvey. These winds are affecting mainly the waters N of 28N between 87W and 93W, with seas to 8 ft. Gentle to moderate winds are noted over the remainder of the Gulf, with the exception of light to gentle winds over the southwest Gulf. Seas are in the 6-8 ft over the northeast Gulf, 3-5 ft over the southeast and south-central Gulf, and 3-4 ft over the southwest Gulf. As Harvey moves farther inland, winds and seas will gradually diminish across the N-central and NE Gulf waters later today. Then, high pressure will slowly build back across the Gulf through the remainder of the week before a trough develops over the western Gulf this weekend. An area of low pressure could form over the southwestern Gulf along this trough by the weekend. Development, if any, of this system is expected to be slow to occur as the low moves slowly northward. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A weak ridge N of the area will support pulsing fresh to strong trade winds off the coast of northwest Venezuela and northeast Colombia each night. Gentle to moderate NE-E winds and seas in the 4-6 ft range will prevail across the Tropical N Atlantic waters through the upcoming weekend.
