000 AGXX40 KNHC 262242 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 642 PM EDT Sat Aug 26 2017 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas. ...GULF OF MEXICO... Tropical Storm Harvey is well inland over Texas yet is producing tropical storm force winds within 60 nm of the central Texas coast supporting seas to 14 ft within about 150 nm east of the storm over the open waters. Harvey will slowly weaken as it meanders over inland Texas the next several days. The proximity of Harvey to the coast will support fresh to strong southerly winds north of 26N and west of mainly 94W through early this week. These winds will support seas to about 10 ft Sunday through Tuesday night. Farther east, a trough of low pressure persists over the eastern Gulf with a weak 1012 mb low pressure over central Florida. This system is forecast to move northeastward and emerge over the western Atlantic late this weekend. This will have minimal impact on winds and seas across the Gulf waters. However, unsettled weather will continue over the eastern Gulf through Sunday associated with the system. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Fresh to locally strong winds will pulse off the coast of northwest Venezuela and northeast Colombia tonight with seas reaching to 8-9 ft by morning. Fresh to strong E-SE winds are expected across the Gulf of Honduras this evening and tonight. The ridge to the north supporting these winds will weaken Sunday through early next week as low pressure crosses the western Atlantic waters. Little change is expected elsewhere through the next several days. In the Tropical N Atlantic waters expect gentle to moderate trades and seas in the 4-6 ft range through the forecast period. By the middle of next week, the ridge should restrengthen north of the region allowing for fresh to strong pulsing winds to resume over the south central Caribbean and Gulf of Honduras. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... The ridge over the area has started to retreat eastward as a surface trough has moved into the northwest portion of the forecast region. An area of low pressure located over central Florida is forecast to move northeastward and emerge over the western Atlantic on Sunday where some development is expected through early next week before it merges with a front. This system is also expected to cause increasing northeast winds and rough surf along the coast of Georgia and the Carolinas through early next week. Elsewhere, mainly moderate winds will prevail through the next several days, except locally fresh south of 22N. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
