A surface ridge will meander westward from the Florida Big Bend across the Northern Coastal Plains through Fri. A coastal trough will extend S from the Texas Coastal Bend to near Veracruz Mexico through Wed morning. A thermal trough will develop over the Yucatan Peninsula this evening, move slowly westward during the overnight hours, and dissipate over the SW Gulf by late Tue morning. Expect a fresh NE-E-SE wind shift, and 3-5 ft seas, along this trough this evening. The trough will begin to develop again on Thu and Fri evenings accompanied by a strong wind shift. The pressure gradient will tighten beginning early Tue in association with Tropical Storm Franklin moving W-NW across the Yucatan Peninsula beginning late Mon and continuing through Tue morning accompanied by large rainfall accumulations and tropical storm force winds. Franklin is forecast to emerge into the eastern Bay of Campeche along 20N on Tue afternoon. Franklin will gradually strengthen to a strong tropical storm on Wed, and move inland Mexico near 21N97W early Thu. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Tropical Storm Franklin will track W-NW across the northern Gulf of Honduras today, and move inland near 19N88W this evening. Strong convection is currently observed over the NE quadrant and is likely to develop over the entire northern semicircle today, and this will be depicted in the weather grids. Expect the associated conditions at 20 kt or less, and seas less than 8 ft on Thu afternoon. Fresh to locally strong pulses are forecast to resume along the NW coast of Colombia on Tue evening, and again on Thu and fri evenings. Strong NE-E winds and seas to 8 ft will arrive near 17N55W on Tue associated with a tropical wave that will pass through the Lesser Antilles early Wed, and reach the Central Caribbean late Thu. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A surface high currently near 30N71W will drift slowly E-NE on Tue and Wed passing near Bermuda early Thu, and continuing away from the area on Fri with a ridge extending westward to NE Florida this week. Light to locally moderate southerly flow is expected N of the ridge. Fresh E trades will shift W across the Old Bahama Channel through this afternoon with 3 to 5 ft seas.
