A surface trough extends westward from northern Florida across the northern Gulf to near Houston Texas. Satellite imagery and surface obs show a pair of lows along the trough axis, centered near the big bend of Florida at 29N84W, and in the NE Gulf near 28N86W. Widespread active convection is associated with these lows. Convective activity is expected to persist overnight, then diminish Thu morning as the trough drifts northward and weakens. A ridge axis extending across the southern Gulf will drift northward the next few days, supporting gentle to moderate winds across the basin, and seas of 2 to 4 ft. The only exception will be a diurnal trough that will develop over the Yucatan Peninsula each evening, move W during the overnight hours dissipating over the SW Gulf each morning. Winds associated with this trough may increase to 20 kt during the overnight hours with seas briefly reaching 5 to 6 ft. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A tropical wave moving into Central America is exiting the basin. Fresh trades and building seas associated with the wave are spreading from the tropical Atlantic into the northeast Caribbean, with seas to 9 ft in the Atlantic passages. Strong winds will push into the Windward Passage tonight ahead of the wave axis. Persistent high pressure north of the region will support fresh to occasionally strong trade winds over most of the central Caribbean the next several days. Winds will also pulse to near 25 kt in the Gulf of Honduras tonight and Thu as the ridge builds westward across the Gulf of Mexico. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A surface trough extending from a remnant low near 32N76W to northern Florida will gradually dissipate through Thu.
