High pressure prevails over the northern Gulf. Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict light to gentle winds prevail across the Gulf waters, except for the southwest Gulf where gentle to moderate winds prevail. Seas are in the 1-3 ft range, except reaching 4 ft in the southwest Gulf. High pressure will prevail over the northern waters through early next week. A thermal trough will develop over the Yucatan Peninsula each evening before pushing offshore into the SW Gulf each night. The trough will drift westward during the overnight hours, and dissipate over the SW Gulf each morning. Seas will briefly build to 4-5 ft in association with this trough. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict fresh to strong winds over the central Caribbean, moderate to fresh winds over the eastern Caribbean, gentle to moderate winds over the western Caribbean, and moderate to fresh winds over the tropical north Atlantic forecast zones. Seas are in the 8-11 ft range over the central Caribbean, 4-7 ft over the eastern Caribbean, 4-6 ft over the western Caribbean, and 5-8 ft over the tropical north Atlantic forecast zones. The ridge north of the area will weaken this weekend. This will decrease winds and seas over the area. The ridge will strengthen early next week which will once again increase winds and seas. ..SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... High pressure prevails over the forecast area. Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict moderate to fresh winds north of Hispaniola, and gentle to moderate winds elsewhere. Seas are in the 3-4 ft range over the northern waters, 5-6 ft over the southern waters outside the Bahamas except reaching 8 ft north of Hispaniola, and 1-3 ft west of the Bahamas. High pressure will prevail over the forecast area through the weekend and into early next week.
