A ridge will dominate the Gulf waters through the week producing gentle to moderate winds and seas of 1 to 3 ft, with the exception of variable winds and seas of 1-2 ft over the NE Gulf, where a weak high pressure center will prevail. A thermal trough will develop over the Yucatan Peninsula each evening before pushing offshore into the SW Gulf each night. The trough will drift westward during the overnight hours, and dissipate over the SW Gulf each morning. Seas will briefly build to 4-5 ft in association with this trough. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... The remnants of Tropical Storm Don are moving through the southeast Caribbean waters. At 1200 UTC, a 1012 mb low pressure is analyzed near 11.5N64.5W. Fresh to strong winds and seas up to 11 ft are still noted on the northern side of the remnant low forecast to continue moving westward across the SE Caribbean waters today. Elsewhere fresh to strong winds prevail over the central and eastern Caribbean, except off the coast of Colombia and in the Gulf of Venezuela, where winds are reaching 30 kt. Gentle to moderate winds prevail over the western Caribbean, while moderate to fresh winds are blowing over the Tropical North Atlantic forecast zones. The most recent altimeter pass indicated seas up to 13 ft across the south-central Caribbean. The aerial extend of the winds will decrease by the end of the week as the ridge north of the area weakens. ..SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A ridge, with axis along 29N/30N, will dominate the forecast region through the remainder of the week into the weekend. Scatterometer and surface data depict moderate to fresh winds over the southern waters, except fresh to strong winds north of Hispaniola into the Windward Passage, and light to gentle winds over the northern waters. Seas are in the 5-7 ft over the southern waters outside the Bahamas, 1-3 ft west of the Bahamas, and 3-5 ft over the northern waters.
