High pressure prevails over the northern waters. Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict light winds over the northeast Gulf, moderate to fresh winds over the southwest Gulf, and light to gentle winds elsewhere. Seas are in the 1-3 ft range. High pressure will prevail over the northern waters through the weekend. A thermal trough will develop over the Yucatan Peninsula each evening hours before pushing offshore into the SW Gulf each night. The trough will drift westward during the overnight hours, and dissipate over the SW Gulf each morning. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... The remnants of Tropical Storm Don are moving through the southeast Caribbean waters, producing a small area of gale force winds over this area. Elsewhere Fresh to strong winds prevail over the central and eastern Caribbean, except off the coast of Colombia where winds are reaching near gale force. Gentle to moderate winds prevail over the western Caribbean, while moderate to fresh winds prevail over the tropical north Atlantic forecast zones. Seas are in the 10-12 ft range in the area of gale force winds associated with the remnants of Don. Elsewhere seas are in the 10-11 ft range off the coast of Colombia, 8-10 ft over the remainder of the central and eastern Caribbean, 4-5 ft over the western Caribbean, and 6-8 ft over the tropical north Atlantic forecast zones. The ridge north of the area will weaken by weeks end which will decrease coverage of the fresh to strong winds over the area. ..SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Seas are in the 5-7 ft over the southern waters outside the Bahamas, 1-3 ft west of the Bahamas, and 3-5 ft over the northern waters. High pressure will prevail over the forecast waters through the remainder of the week into the weekend.
