A ridge along 30N across the northern Gulf will maintain gentle to moderate E to SE winds and seas 4 ft or less through Friday. The usual thermal trough that develops during the evening hours over the Yucatan Peninsula will push offshore into the SW Gulf each night accompanied by a surge of fresh NE winds, and briefly build seas to near 5 ft. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A tropical wave along 71W is moving through the central Caribbean at 15 kt. TPW precipitable water imagery shows deep tropical moisture across most of the Caribbean, and recent scatterometer data showed a sizable area of 25 kt winds from 11N to 13N between 74W and 77W, with max seas to 11 ft. The wave will move west into Central America through Wednesday, while winds and seas gradually diminish across the central Caribbean. Another tropical wave along 56W is moving through the tropical N Atlantic at 15-20 kt. Satellite imagery shows a leading edge of clouds and showers racing through the Windward Islands. This wave will move into the eastern Caribbean Tuesday, and the rest of the Caribbean through early Friday. Fresh winds and seas of 5-6 ft will accompany the wave. Looking ahead, winds and seas will increase Friday and Saturday NE of the Lesser Antilles ahead of a vigorous tropical wave and attendant surface low pressure area. Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for gradual development of this system later in the week as it moves west-northwestward at about 10 kt. ..SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A ridge along 31N will support gentle to moderate breezes N of 25N and moderate to fresh trade winds S of 25N. Periods of strong winds can also be expected each evening along the northern coast of Hispaniola. Looking ahead, winds and seas will increase Friday and Saturday in zone 127 NE of the Lesser Antilles ahead of a vigorous tropical wave and attendant surface low pressure area.
