A ridge extending from the Atlantic across the Gulf region will dominate the area. A weak high pressure of 1019 mb located over the NE Gulf is within the ridge. This system is maintaining mainly moderate to locally fresh southerly winds across the western Gulf, and gentle to moderate E to SE winds across the eastern Gulf, with the exception of light and variable winds over the NE Gulf due to the presence of the high pressure center. Seas are in the 1-3 ft range over the eastern half of the Gulf, and in the 4-6 ft range over the western half of the Gulf. The high pressure will meander between SE Louisiana and the NE Gulf over the next 72 hours. Little change in the weather pattern and marine conditions are expected over the next several days as a ridge remains in place. A tropical wave, currently located over the western Caribbean along 85W/86W, will move across the Yucatan Peninsula today. A cluster of moderate convection is over the eastern Bay of Campeche. Winds and seas could be higher near thunderstorms. A thermal trough will develop during the evening hours over the Yucatan Peninsula before pushing offshore into the SW Gulf each night. A surge of fresh to occasionally strong winds will accompany this trough. Seas will briefly build to 6-7 ft in association with these winds. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W...
