Jet dynamics aloft are enhancing clusters of showers and thunderstorms over the east central Gulf currently. Ship observations confirm fresh to possibly strong southeast winds over the south central Gulf, between the trough and ridging over the western Atlantic. The fresh southeast winds will follow the trough and spread from the south central Gulf to the northwest Gulf with seas building to at least six feet over the central Gulf through Monday. Southeast winds will briefly pulse to 20 to 25 kt off the northwest tip of the Yucatan peninsula tonight and Monday night. The pressure gradient will begin to relax late Mon with moderate to fresh return flow and 3 to 5 ft seas expected on Tue. Winds and seas diminish over the south central Caribbean starting Tue and over the Gulf of Honduras Wed as a tropical wave migrates across the basin as the Atlantic ridge lifts farther northward.
