A trough reaching from the northeast Yucatan peninsula to near Dry Tortugas in the southeast Gulf will lift northward in the central Gulf through late Sunday then dissipate. A tight gradient between the trough and high pressure building over the western Atlantic will allow mainly fresh winds across the south central Gulf tonight through Monday across much of the western and central Gulf. Winds and seas diminish Tuesday through mid week as weak high pressure builds north of the area. Locally fresh winds are possible off northwest Yucatan mainly in the late evenings. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Building high pressure north of the area is supporting fresh trade winds across the south central Caribbean, with strong winds off Colombia. An upper low centered over the Virgin Islands is supporting scattered showers across the Windward Islands, but suppressing convection over the central and most of the eastern Caribbean. Scattered showers and thunderstorms remain active near a surface trough over the far northwest Caribbean. The building ridge north of the area will maintain fresh trades across the basin tonight through early next week, with locally strong winds at night off Colombia and in the Gulf of Honduras. A tropical wave will pass 55W in the tropical north Atlantic late today, then enter the eastern Caribbean Sunday, the central Caribbean Monday. Winds and seas will subside over the south central Caribbean and to a lesser extent in the Gulf of Honduras Tuesday and Wednesday as the tropical wave moves continues into the southwest Caribbean through mid week. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS...
