A cold front extends from South Florida to the southwest Gulf. High pressure, centered over the central Gulf has built across the Gulf waters in the wake of the front. Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict moderate to fresh winds over the northwest Gulf, light to gentle winds over the northeast Gulf, and gentle to moderate winds elsewhere. Seas are in the 1-2 ft range over the northeast Gulf, 5-6 ft over the northwest Gulf, and 2-4 ft elsewhere. A thermal trough will develop late each afternoon over the Yucatan Peninsula. The trough will shift westward across the southwestern Gulf waters during the overnight hours and dissipate over this area each morning. High pressure will prevail elsewhere over the Gulf waters. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A high pressure ridge that has prevailed north of the forecast waters is retreating eastward. Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict fresh to strong winds over the central Caribbean, gentle to moderate winds over the eastern Caribbean, moderate to fresh over the western Caribbean, and gentle to moderate winds over the tropical north Atlantic zones. Seas are in the 8-10 ft range over the central Caribbean, 3-5 ft over the eastern Caribbean, 5-7 ft over the western Caribbean, and 5-6 ft over the tropical north Atlantic waters. The ridge north of the area will continue to shift eastward. This will bring a decrease in winds and seas across the forecast waters this weekend. High pressure will build back north of the area early next week, once again tightening the pressure gradient and increasing winds and seas by midweek. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front extends from near 31N69W to the northern Bahamas. Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict moderate to fresh winds over the northeast waters ahead of the front, gentle to moderate winds over the southern waters, and light to gentle winds over the remainder of the forecast waters. Seas are in the 6-8 ft range over the northeastern waters, 4-6 ft elsewhere outside the Bahamas, and 1-2 ft west of the Bahamas. The front will stall from near Bermuda to the northwest Bahamas on Saturday and dissipate through Sunday.
