A cold front extends from South Florida to the southwest Gulf. High pressure, centered over the central Gulf has built across the Gulf waters in the wake of the front. Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict light to gentle winds near the center of the high pressure area, with gentle to moderate winds over the eastern and western Gulf. Seas are in the 3-5 ft range over the eastern half of the Gulf and 2-4 ft over the western half of the Gulf. The cold front will continue to shift eastward and stall over the southeast Gulf on Friday where it will dissipate. High pressure will prevail over the Gulf waters through early next week. Thermal troughing will develop each day over the Yucatan and move into the Bay of Campeche during the overnight hours, where it will dissipate each morning. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A high pressure ridge extends across the southwest north Atlantic waters. Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict fresh to strong winds over the central Caribbean, moderate to fresh winds over the eastern and western Caribbean as well as the tropical north Atlantic waters. Seas are in the 8-11 ft range over the central Caribbean, 4-7 ft over the eastern Caribbean, while seas in the 5-6 ft range prevail over the western Caribbean and tropical north Atlantic waters. High pressure ridge north of the area will retreat eastward today. This will loosen the pressure gradient over the forecast waters which will bring a decrease in winds and seas this weekend into early next week. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front extends over the northwestern waters. A ridge of high pressure extends across the southern waters. Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict strong to near gale winds over the northern waters east of the front, fresh to strong winds west of the front, and gentle to moderate winds elsewhere. Seas are in the 8-11 ft range over the northwest waters, 4-6 ft elsewhere outside the Bahamas, and 1-2 ft west of the Bahamas. The northern part of the cold front will shift eastward, moving east of the area by Saturday. The southern part of the front will stall across the northern Bahamas Friday, then gradually dissipate through Saturday.
