High pressure prevails over the northern Gulf. Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict gentle to moderate winds over the southeastern Gulf with light to gentle winds prevailing over the remainder of the Gulf waters. Seas are in the 1-2 ft range over the northeast Gulf, and 3-4 ft over the remainder of the Gulf waters. High pressure will continue to prevail over the northern Gulf waters through the week. A thermally induced trough will develop over the Yucatan peninsula late each afternoon. This trough will shift into the southwest gulf each evening where it will dissipate each morning. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict a small area of fresh to strong winds off the northwest coast of Colombia as well as the windward passage. gentle to moderate winds prevail over the remainder of Caribbean waters as well as the tropical north Atlantic forecast zones. Seas are in the 7-8 ft range off the northwest coast of Colombia, 5-7 ft range over the remainder of the central Caribbean, 4-6 ft over the eastern Caribbean, 3-4 ft over the western Caribbean, and 5-7 ft over the tropical north Atlantic forecast zones. Winds over the windward passage and off the coast of Colombia will diminish below 25 kt today. Afterwards, winds will remain below advisory criteria through the forecast period. Large northerly swell generated by a deep low pressure system over the central Atlantic will propagate into the tropical north Atlantic waters tonight, with seas building to 10 ft over the northern waters as spreading southward through midweek. By Wednesday much of the tropical north Atlantic forecast zones will have seas 8 ft or greater before starting to subside. Seas over these waters are expected to subside below 8 ft by Thursday night. The large swell will also seep through the Atlantic passages into the eastern Caribbean with seas building to 8 ft or greater tonight. Seas over these waters will subside below 8 ft by midweek. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... High pressure prevails over the forecast waters. Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict fresh to strong winds over the far southern waters, moderate to fresh winds over the central waters, and light to gentle winds over the northern waters. Seas are in the 6-9 ft range over the southern waters outside the Bahamas, 4-6 ft over the northern waters outside the Bahamas, and 1-3 ft west of the Bahamas. High pressure will prevail over the forecast waters through the week. Northeasterly swell generated from a deep low pressure system over the central Atlantic will continue to affect the southeast waters through midweek.
